Stillborn Child

Children are great.  Everyone looks forward to having their first child.  The anticipation of what the baby will look like, will it have your nose or your ears.  Will the child be a boy or a girl?  It is a very exciting time for the entire family.  Pregnancy is one of those great miracles of the world.  Birth of a newborn baby is incredible.  Celebrating the day of birth in the hospital with balloons and cards can be a great experience.  However, sometimes things don't go as planned.  A child can die right before they are born.

Stillborn

Stillborn children are children who die after the 20th week of pregnancy but before delivery.

Anyone that has to deal with a stillborn child has to go through a great deal of emotion.  Families involved go from being very excited about a new born to extremely sad in a split second.  The hurt can be overwhelming.  The many thoughts racing through their head can be debilitating.  "Was it something I did to my child?"  "Why would this happen to me?"  Families with stillborn children need a lot of love and support.  After having a stillborn child there will be a bunch of testing done to determine exactly what happened.  This can be somewhat comforting.

Today we know the major causes of stillbirth.   Birth defects, Placental problems, Infections.

If you yourself have recently lost a child, you know how difficult it can be.  The more support you have during this trying time, the better.  But sometimes it maybe better to be left alone for awhile to gather your self.  Don't be shy about reaching out to them, but don't be upset if they're not ready to receive you yet. You may want to write a letter or an e-mail.  This may be more welcome than calls or visits, but whatever you do, don't be shy about reaching out to the family of the child.

Photographs of stillborn infants and newborns who don’t make it home from the hospital are usually very difficult to look at, and are usually the only image that the parents have of their child. Through this free service, our skilled digital artists work with a digital copy of your original, eliminating medical equipment, removing unsightly marks and even replacing the background if desired.
